All 7 viewers who remained Dexter fans after finale excited for reboot

All 7 Viewers Who Remained Dexter Fans Even After Finale Excited For Reboot

The announcement came this week: Dexter, a show that first aired in 2006 and lasted eight seasons (despite the incessant whining of disappointed fanboys after season four) is being rebooted, and all seven people who remained fans even after the series finale are abuzz with excitement. Michael C. Hall will return in his role as the titular character, along with showrunner Clyde Phillips.

"We've been waiting for this moment for years, all seven of us," says DebMorgan4ever, a moderator of the only active Dexter-dedicated message board, My Dark Passenger. "Not many people thought this day would ever come, and even more didn't think about it either way. Maybe because they’re dead.”

“I actually like how small our community is. Season 4 was a blessing, so many fake fans just disappeared. By the time season 8 wrapped, it was just us diehards,” says Sliceoflife13, another moderator on My Dark Passenger, and housemate of DebMorgan4ever. “People loved to hate the last four seasons. Bet they aren’t laughing so hard anymore.”

Bloggers and amateur television critics almost universally panned the last four seasons of the Showtime series, due to plot developments that they just really didn't like. "You can't kill off a major character in the fourth season, this show sucks," commented Tommy Green in 2010 on a Facebook post lamenting the season four finale. Attempts to contact Tommy Green for thoughts about the reboot were not answered.

“Sacrifices were made, and blood was shed, to bring back our beloved Dexter. If you aren’t going to respect the show, then what’s going to happen has to happen,” says SurpriseMotherfucker, a lurker and sometimes commenter on My Dark Passenger. We asked what they meant by that comment but did not receive a response.

The limited ten part reboot is set to go into production in early 2021 with a premiere date of fall 2021.
